Billy Talent, together with their fans, have raised 36,365 euros for F.U.MS Germany. The total is the result of two exclusive club shows at the Columbia Theatre in Berlin and the Kantine in Cologne, where fans were able to get particularly close to the Canadian rock icons, who normally fill much larger venues.
Both concerts sold out within minutes; the total raised comprises ticket proceeds and additional donations. Billy Talent drummer Aaron Solowoniuk announced the total raised himself before the concert in Cologne and wowed the crowd not only on stage but also by taking the time to chat with guests in person. Solowoniuk launched the F.U.MS (“Fuck U Multiple Sclerosis”) initiative after going public with his own diagnosis in 2006. The German branch, F.U.MS Germany, is an official chapter of the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG) and primarily supports young people in coping with their diagnosis and connecting with others.
Musically, too, both shows organised by FKP Scorpio were something quite special: the set list featured the number-one album “Billy Talent II”, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. This summer, the Canadians actually headlined much larger stages with shows at the Hurricane and Southside festivals – this, combined with their support for a worthy cause, resulted in two intense concerts and delighted fans in Berlin and Cologne.
